Whats on Your Work Desk Wednesday!

Well another week has flown past and between looking after my friends horse and making my other friends son's Bar Mitzvah invitations I have not got a great deal done!

My youngest son finishes school for easter this Friday so for the next three weeks I won't be getting too much crafting done either!  The spring weather has made everyone more cheery here and we are planning lots of lovely day trips out to the farm and beach etc. I am really going to make the very most of him being 6 and still into that kind of thing because I know I will miss taking him when he is older and is no longer interested in that sort of thing!

WOYWW was created by the fantastic Julia at Stamping Ground take a visit and see what everyone else is up to. This is my workdesk today

Today I have been making some cards for my dear friend Liza, we have been friends since school and she has asked me to make several cards for her to give to friends and family. Therefore I have some lovely embellishments on my desk along with my buttefly punch and these .....

Some gorgeous Indian craft papers that I am going to put to good use. These are so cheap to buy in our local stationers and the colours and patterns are so pretty.

This week I also bought a wicker cutlery holder which I have used for tool storage on my desk....

I have a section for glue pens, one for rulers, another for scissors and tweezers and another for pens and pencils!  It sits just comfortably on my desk with my wicker basket that contains all of my adhesives.

This evening my friend Linzi and I are going to print off all the addresses onto envelopes for her invitations. I have aready run the envelopes though the printer and put a pale silver damask pattern on to make them look a bit special. No doubt we will have a couple of glasses of wine to see us through so it should be fun.

Have a lovely week and I look forward to seeing whats on your desk later!

Whats on Your Work Desk Wednesday!

Hi all its a really quick post from me today and I have just managed to get a photo taken of my work desk.  What's on your Work Desk Wedneday has been created by Julia of Stampin Ground and is gathering more and more followers every week. You take a photo of your work desk to share with everyone so they can have a little look at what you are currently working on.  This is my desk which was tidy this morning.....

Then my friend and I had a brain storming session about her son's Bar Mitzvar invitations and came up with a plan, that I need to have ready for tomorrow morning!  Yes we are off to the printers! After weeks of messing about with melt dust, melt papers, shiny papers and embossing I decided that what I wanted to do just can't be done with a home printer and so although we have designed the print, we are getting a professional printer to print the invitations and emboss them and then we will add all the finishing touches and mount them onto the card and stuff! I am so relieved as I think they will look wonderful and we are still adding our home made touch just not doing the printing ourselves!  By the way we are not using orange paper any more, its silver but packed all ready to go to the print shop.

I thought I would share my latest purchase with you all, its not craft stuff but storage!  I always keep a few made cards out for my friends to rummage through and thought that this would display them nicely!

I bought it from a garden centre that has the most lovely home accessories area, they had other bits in this range to but so far I have managed to resist!

Anyway I had better get back to these invitations, I will pop over and see whats you your work desk this evening!   Have a great week!

Thank Heavens for Publisher!

Hi all, I hope that you have all had a great weekend!  As it was Mothers Day on Sunday hubby offered to take Olly to a science party that he was invited to by one of his school friend's. I thought that I would make him a card with a science theme.

I have only just worked out that you don't need a fancy photo/graphics package to make a digital card. I do have a photo/graphics package, but I don't really know how to use it and the instruction book is massive so I made this in Microsoft Publisher which was really easy!

I bought a robot download kit from 2 Peas in a Bucket and decoupaged the robot and the speech box. The background paper is bolts from the same range of papers by Jen Allyson and mounted onto mirror card. I then made a little charm with a spanner for all those bolts, a star and some beads and attached this to the card. I printed an envelope with his name and a robot too.

It was also my dear friend Jo's birthday on the weekend and I know she likes butterflies so I made her this card.

The good old X-Cut butterfly punch came out again and I mounted this onto some pretty indian papers and added ribbon and some bling. I printed a pink wash on the card from a download from Pink Petticoat. I hope she likes it!

I have a busy week ahead as I am looking after Jo's horse this week and am really looking forward to it. It is also my last photography class this week as well as a scrapbooking crop on Friday. I am off to do a bit of cleaning now while I have the chance!

Have a fantastic week!

Happy Mothers Day!

Happy Mothers Day to all you mums out there! I hope you are putting your feet up and being pampered! I have had a lovely day so far with breakfast in bed and some cards and lovely pressies.

I am trying to relax and let hubby do everything like he has told me to but he did make me laugh when by lunch time he said that he thought that the kids were being particularly naughty today and it was only then that I had to tell him that that was because I was waiting for him to tell them off as it was my day off and as he wasn't used to doing it they were getting  bit out of control!

I have made this card for one of my mum's-in-law.

I used the Medallion stamp from Stampin Up on Linen Cardstock and then stamped the centre again and mounted it with foam dots. I added an embelishment for the middle and put stickles  on the dots around the outside edge.

I also made this card for my friend to give to her mum and made a similar one for my other mother-in-law.

This was made with that fantastic Kanban tree stamp again as my friend loves it too. I embossed it with silver embossing powder and added lots of lovely lilac pearls and gems.

I am off to have a tidy up whilst everyone has popped out otherwise Hubby will be on his feet all day and I think he is stressed enough already! Enjoy the rest of the weekend whatever you are doing!

Whats On Your Work Desk Wednesday!

Its that time again when we all post whats on our work desk. This is a fab idea created by Julia at Stamping Ground where you all post a photo of your desk and talk about your current projects, storage ideas or just life in general! I have made some wonderful friends through WOYWW and I look forward to it every week, do join in and have a nose at what everyone else is doing!

This is my desk today

I have been playing with my Medallion Stamp from Stampin Up and getting to grips with embossing! I have not done alot of embossing before but am really enjoying experiementing. I am also having my first attempt at making a mini book which I am in the process of covering with some papers from DCWV called Green Stack.

As you can see the trusty cupcake stand which you all love is now very well stocked with embossing powders and glitter.

Julia mentioned ribbon storage in her post today and this is what I use

It looks like a mess but I actually can see all of the ribbons quite easily and pull them out when I need them. Its basically a ring with plastic ribbon holders that you can add to bought from Storage for Crafts.

Finally some of you have been asking what's on my pc screen, (not as good as WOYWW!) I have Windows 7 and its a screen saver downloaded from the internet call Zune Originals by Luke Ramsey, it keeps changing every half an hour and there are so colourful and weird piccies on it that I just love!

Anyway i'm off to have a look at what you are all up to. The kids have friends coming round to play tonight so I am making the most of the peace and quiet now! Have a great week!

Bizarre Weekend and a Card!

Hi all, I hope that are having a wonderful weekend. Hubby is away this weekend so it is just me and the kids so its been full and fun packed for sure!

I have been getting into my scrapbooking a bit more lately and have booked to go to the Scrapagogo retreat with my friend Linzi in October. I am a real beginner at this and here are just a couple of the pages that I have finished.

All of the kiddie winks of course!

I have been very sparse in the card making department but did manage to make a card for Paula when I sent her some tree stamped images.

This weekend I have been to see Alice in Wonderland with the kids which was good fun. Now for the bizarre part, I also helped my eldest son make a picture of a tomato with tomato ketchup

And for some strange reason I offered to make Olly a wormery!

Yes you read right a wormery, we saw one in a catalogue yesterday and I asked if he would like one, anyway he went on so much about it and got so excited that I printed off instructions from the internet and made him one myself!  If you don't like worms look away now!

Yes there are 14 of the little wrigglers in there, I had to help dig and pick them out and we will feed them and look after them. In case you are worried no worms have been harmed in this process and they will be let free again in a couple of weeks! Funny bit is I have told Olly that he can take it in for Show and Tell Tomorrow, can't wait to see the teachers face!

Anyway thats all for me, I am off to tidy up, only a couple of hours until hubby as home and I am sooo looking forward to a glass of wine!

Whats on Your Work Desk Wednesday?

My goodness I can't believe WOYWW has come around already and I have not posted anything since last week!  I have had friends round for a cuppa every day this week and the cleaning was crying out to be done and when I did get a chance to sit in my craft room I have been looking at everyone elses creations but not doing anything myself!

WOYWW has been created by Julia over at Stamping Ground and each week you show whats on your desk and sometimes other parts of your crafting space where ever it may be!  Make yourself a cuppa and come and join in!

Here is my desk

There are some left over tree stamps that I had stamped for Paula, basically the ones that I did so badly I cannot send! The orange and black paper is for me to start making some invitations to my friend's sons Bar Mitzvar, they have chosen the colour now I just need to come up with some ideas.

Finally a little bit of craft stash has been delivered, Stampin Up Stamps on my desk came today and there are some Paula Pascual and Anna Griffin stamps in the basket which I ordered from QVC. There is a bit of a theme this week the same as last week, I have bought stuff but not made anything!

I am in the process of putting my cupcake stand to good use now after all your suggestions

It's going to store my glitter and embossing powders!

Finally I have been taking some photos and took this yesterday whilst walking the dog, there were people in their beach huts and enjoying the sunshine, it was almost spring like!

Even the seagulls were sun bathing! Well I am off to check out what you have all been upto. Have a wonderful week.
